Cancellation & Refund Policy
This policy explains how cancellations and refunds work for bookings made through RentLokr.
1. Scope
This policy applies to booking cancellations, owner cancellations, and related payment refunds processed through RentLokr. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
This page does not replace listing-specific late-fee rules, deposit handling, damage outcomes, or other post-return settlement steps that may apply to a completed booking.
2. Renter Cancellations
If a renter cancels a confirmed booking at least 2 hours before the scheduled pickup time, the renter will receive a full refund.
If a renter cancels less than 2 hours before the scheduled pickup time, the rental charges and platform fee are non-refundable, but the deposit is still refunded.
- The 2-hour cutoff is measured against the scheduled pickup time shown in the booking.
- Refund eligibility is based on the booking timing recorded by the platform.
- If the late-cancellation rule applies, only the deposit is returned.
- The cancellation still takes effect and the listing dates become available again.
3. Owner Cancellations and Listing Issues
If the owner cancels the booking, the renter receives a full refund.
If the item is unavailable, cannot be delivered or picked up as agreed, or is materially not as described, RentLokr may cancel the booking and issue the renter a full refund.
4. What a Full Refund Includes
When this policy says "full refund," it means the renter is refunded the amounts paid for the cancelled booking, including applicable rental charges, platform fees, taxes, deposits, and protection fees associated with that booking.
5. Scheduled Booking Window
Some listings use minimum billing blocks such as a day or a week. In those cases, the booking window recorded by RentLokr may be longer than the exact times first entered by the renter because the booking is expanded to the applicable billable period.
6. Refund Timing
Eligible refunds are initiated after the cancellation is processed. The time it takes for funds to appear in the renter’s account depends on the payment method, payment processor, and financial institution.
7. Operational Reviews
RentLokr may place a temporary hold on refund or payout processing where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, policy abuse, payment disputes, chargebacks, or other trust and safety concerns.
