Trust and safety are core to the RentLokr marketplace. This policy explains how we reduce risk, review reports, moderate content, and respond to misconduct across listings, bookings, messaging, payments, and account activity.
1. Our Commitment to Safety
RentLokr uses a combination of product controls, moderation, logging, verification, and operational review to protect renters, owners, and the platform.
- Verify users and payment destinations where appropriate.
- Detect fraud, abuse, suspicious behavior, and repeated policy violations.
- Moderate listings, media, and user-generated content.
- Support safer communication and maintain records of in-app marketplace activity.
- Respond to reports, disputes, and urgent safety concerns.
2. User Verification
Users may be required to complete one or more verification steps before certain actions are available.
- Account verification: email and other account confirmation steps help us secure access.
- Identity review: we may require identity verification or additional review before allowing higher-risk activity.
- Payment verification: payout recipients may need to complete Stripe or similar provider onboarding before receiving funds.
- Ongoing review: verification or account access can be revisited if trust, fraud, chargeback, or safety concerns arise.
3. Community Standards
All users are expected to act honestly, respectfully, and lawfully.
- Describe items and booking expectations accurately.
- Communicate respectfully and avoid harassment, threats, discrimination, or coercion.
- Use the platform only for legitimate rental activity.
- Honor booking commitments, return deadlines, and safety instructions.
- Report damage, misuse, suspicious behavior, or unsafe conditions promptly.
Violations can lead to warnings, content removal, booking restrictions, payout holds, suspension, or permanent account removal.
4. Prohibited Items and Activities
The following are prohibited on RentLokr:
- Illegal goods, controlled substances, stolen property, or contraband.
- Weapons, ammunition, or other inherently high-risk items that our policies do not allow.
- Unsafe, recalled, counterfeit, or materially misrepresented items.
- Fraudulent listings, identity impersonation, payout abuse, or off-platform payment circumvention.
- Threats, harassment, hate speech, extortion, or attempts to exploit other users.
We may proactively moderate content and take immediate action when we identify prohibited conduct.
5. Transaction Protection
RentLokr supports safer transactions through:
- Secure payments: checkout and payout operations handled through third-party processors such as Stripe.
- In-app records: messaging, booking events, and transaction logs that help us investigate issues.
- Protection options: optional protection or insurance products where offered by third parties.
- Operational controls: moderation, payout reviews, and account restrictions when risk signals are detected.
6. Reporting and Enforcement
We review reports and internal alerts as quickly as reasonably possible, but response times can vary based on severity, available evidence, and operational load.

- Review process: we may review messages, listings, media, transaction history, payout setup, device or network signals, and prior reports.
- Enforcement actions: we may warn, remove content, cancel bookings, freeze payouts, suspend features, or permanently remove accounts.

7. Dispute Resolution
When disputes arise, we generally expect users to try to resolve straightforward issues through the platform first. Where necessary, RentLokr may review booking records, messages, photos, timestamps, payment status, and other evidence to support a fair operational outcome. We are not a court or insurer, and our decisions may be based on limited information available to us.
8. Safety Tips for Users
We encourage all users to follow practical safety steps:
- Meet in safe, public, or otherwise appropriate pickup and return locations.
- Document item condition before handoff and after return.
- Keep communications and payments on-platform when possible.
- Do not share sensitive financial or identity information outside approved workflows.
- Pause the transaction and report the issue if something appears unsafe or fraudulent.
9. Data Protection
Personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy. We use logging, access controls, encryption in transit, and provider-supported security controls, but no system can eliminate all risk.
10. Cooperation with Law Enforcement
RentLokr may cooperate with law enforcement or emergency responders where required by law or where we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to prevent harm, investigate crime, or protect users, RentLokr, or the public.
11. Continuous Improvement
We continue to improve trust and safety controls over time. That may include updates to fraud detection, moderation rules, booking controls, identity review processes, payout risk checks, and reporting workflows.
